আলি ইবনু আবি তালিব রা.। চতুর্থ খলিফায়ে রাশিদ। গ্রন্থটিতে তাঁর জন্ম থেকে শাহাদাত পর্যন্ত বিস্তারিত ঘটনাবলি আলোচনা করা হয়েছে।
তাঁর পরিচয়, ইসলামগ্রহণ, রাসুলের সঙ্গে কাটানো শৈশবকাল, তাঁর সঙ্গে রাসুল সাঃ কীভাবে আচরণ করতেন, সেগুলোও আলোচনায় এসেছে।
বদর, উহুদ, খন্দক, বনু কুরাইজা, হুদায়বিয়া, খায়বার, মক্কাবিজয়, হুনাইনের যুদ্ধসহ বিভিন্ন যুদ্ধে তাঁর কৃতিত্ব ও ভূমিকা নিয়ে গবেষণালব্ধ আলোচনা করা হয়েছে।
আবু বকর, উমর ও উসমান রা.-এর খিলাফতকালে তাঁর ভূমিকার পাশাপাশি শুরার ব্যাপারে ভণ্ড রাফিজিদের মিথ্যাচারেরও খণ্ডন করা হয়েছে।
আলোচনা করা হয়েছে তাঁর বায়আত, মর্যাদা, গুণাবলি ও প্রশাসনিক ব্যবস্থাপনার মূলনীতিসমূহ।
তাঁর জ্ঞান, আত্মত্যাগ, বিনয়, লজ্জা ও দানশীলতা, ইবাদত, ধৈর্য ও ইখলাস, আল্লাহর প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞতা, আল্লাহর দরবারে দুআর বিষয়টি তুলে ধরা হয়েছে।
আলির সামাজিক জীবনের পাশাপাশি, শিষ্টের লালন ও দুষ্টের দমনে তাঁর গৃহীত পদক্ষেপ নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোকপাত করা হয়েছে। জঙ্গে জামাল তথা উষ্ট্রীর যুদ্ধ এবং সিফফিনের যুদ্ধের ওপর বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করা হয়েছে। গ্রন্থের শেষ দিকে রাফিজি, খারিজিসহ বিভিন্ন ভ্রান্ত মতবাদ বিষয়ে তাত্ত্বিক বিশ্লেষণ পেশ করা হয়েছে।
এ ছাড়া তাঁর যুগে ধর্মে বাড়াবাড়ি, দীন সম্পর্কে উদাসীনতা, মুসলিম শাসকদের বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ ঘোষণা, কবিরা গুনাহে লিপ্ত মুসলমানকে কাফির বলা, মুসলমানদের হত্যা ও তাঁদের সম্পদ হালাল ঘোষণা করা, নির্বিচারে গালিগালাজ করা, কতেক সাহাবিকে গালমন্দ ও নিন্দা করা এবং উসমান ও আলি রা.-কে কাফির সাব্যস্ত করা—ইত্যাদি বিষয়েও আলোচনা করা হয়েছে।
এ ছাড়া আরও অনেক সাহাবির জীবনী এবং বিভিন্ন মাসআলা-মাসায়িল সম্পর্কেও আমরা জানতে পারব। জানতে পারব ব্যক্তি, সমাজ ও রাষ্ট্রে ইসলাম প্রতিষ্ঠার পথ ও পদ্ধতি সম্পর্কে।
